El informe de FAO, FIDA, OPS/WHO, UNICEF y PMA, examina el impacto del hambre, la seguridad alimentaria y la malnutrición en América Latina y el Caribe. El informe centra  su análisis en las desigualdades territoriales y haciendo un llamamiento a los países para que prioricen en sus políticas y planes de inversión a los territorios rezagados.

IFAD’s strategy in Papua New Guinea is to improve the livelihoods of small-scale farmers by increasing production volumes and quality, and to improve access to markets, technologies and services in order to increase farmers’ share of added value.

Sorghum, finger millet and pearl millet are the most important staple foods for most households in the semi-arid tropics of East Africa, as these crops grow in harsh environments where other crops do not grow well. 

Over the last 40 years, IFAD and the Government of Indonesia have invested more than US$1 billion in rural people to strengthen inclusive and environmentally sustainable economic growth.

IFAD’s Adaptation for Smallholder Agriculture Programme (ASAP) is the largest multi-donor global fund specifically dedicated to enabling smallholder farmers to adapt and build their resilience to climate change.

El programa FO4ACP tiene por objetivo aumentar los ingresos y mejorar los medios de vida, la seguridad alimentaria y nutricional y la protección de los agricultores familiares y los pequeños campesinos organizados en los países de África, el Caribe y el Pacífico reforzando las organizaciones regionales, nacionales y locales de agricultores.

 

Indigenous peoples, living in rural areas of developing countries and facing high levels of poverty and food insecurity, are an important constituency for IFAD.

In working with them, we have learned the importance of recognizing the diversity and distinctiveness of peoples and rural communities and of valuing and building on their cultural identity as an asset and economic potential. Thirty years after IFAD made its first loan in support of indigenous peoples, we are better equipped to strengthen our links with these communities.
