Este informe brinda nuevos datos para fundamentar el diseño de productos financieros oportunos y adecuados para las organizaciones de agricultores, a partir de una encuesta realizada a 220 organizaciones de este tipo en África Occidental y Asia y el Pacífico.

Ante la triple crisis sanitaria, económica y social provocada por la pandemia de COVID-19, las organizaciones de agricultores (OA) han sido llamadas por sus miembros y socios a desempeñar diversas funciones en respuesta a la crisis.

The Farmer Field School (FFS) approach is adopted in the vast majority of projects funded by IFAD in sub-Saharan Africa. The Forum for Agricultural Risk Management in Development (FARM-D) is a Community of Practice managed by the Platform for Agricultural Risk Management (PARM) for knowledge exchange on agricultural risk management in developing countries.

The overall objective of the FO4ACP programme is to increase income and to improve livelihoods, food and nutrition security and safety of organized smallholder and family farmers in Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries.

Rice farmers in the mid-hills region of Nepal are vulnerable to drought, which can drastically reduce yields. Stress-tolerant rice varieties can mitigate this vulnerability, as can having a high seed replacement rate and using best management practices in rice cultivation.
