The China-IFAD South-South and Triangular Cooperation Facility was established in February 2018 and is the first Facility in IFAD dedicated to SSTC.
Its goal is to exchange expertise, knowledge and resources, and promote business-to-business links and investments across developing countries, with the broad aim of enhancing agricultural productivity, incomes, and livelihoods of poor people living in rural areas.
The Facility will focus on smallholder agriculture and rural development, with specific attention to poverty reduction, fighting malnutrition and promoting rural youth employment in developing countries. It is a key instrument to help advance the objectives of IFAD’s SSTC strategy for promoting rural transformation critical for meeting the Sustainable Development Goals.
Priority areas for 2018-2019
The Facility will finance activities within the following five priorities:
- Facilitating South-South knowledge exchange
- Embedding SSTC in IFAD operations
- Establishing operational SSTC partnerships between IFAD Member States
- Promoting rural South-South investments
- Strengthening cooperation in human resources
