Agritech and Fintech Providers in East and Southern Africa: A landscape assessment

Digitization is expected to provide an important avenue for African economies to advance across different sectors. In the agriculture sector, which employs over 65% of Africa’s population, in-person services are increasingly transitioning to new digital service platforms, which are accessible even in remote locations.

This report examines the universe of agritech and fintech providers that influence access to finance in East and Southern Africa, exploring their potential to become commercially viable and achieve scale. The study also documents the role of concessional capital in the growth trajectory of tech providers in the region.
