ASAP Technical Series: Climate Information Services

Smallholder production systems are particularly vulnerable to climate change impacts, which affect the farming environment, yields, productivity and assets.

Many farmers lack access to reliable information on weather forecasts and the recommended actions to take in response to or in anticipation of climate risks.

Timely and reliable climate information services (CIS) are critical to farmers, communities and agrifood value chain actors in planning and implementing climate adaptation strategies, and in improving productivity, food security and livelihood resilience in rural economies.

This technical paper summarizes experiences and lessons learned on CIS, including from IFAD’s Adaptation for Smallholder Agriculture Programme (ASAP).
