Crowdfunding Malian diaspora remittances to finance rural entrepreneurship

This case study examines a pilot initiative carried out by the IFAD-supported Rural Youth Vocational Training, Employment and Entrepreneurship Support Project (FIER) in Mali, together with the Babyloan crowdfunding platform, to leverage diaspora remittances abroad as a way to support rural entrepreneurship in the home country. The study looks at the first three years of the pilot’s implementation and documents the successes and challenges of this approach, along with lessons learned.
