عين اليوم الصندوق الدولي للتنمية الزراعية (إيفاد) كبير مسؤوليه الماليين، Alvaro Lario، في منصب الرئيس القادم، ليختار الصندوق بذلك خبيرا في استثمارات القطاع الخاص لقيادة وكالة الأمم المتحدة للتصدي لأزمة الأمن الغذائي العالمية التي اندلعت بسبب الحرب في أوكرانيا والتغيرات المناخية والتوابع الاقتصادية السلبية لجائحة COVID-19.

أفاد تقرير للأمم المتحدة قدّم أدلة جديدة على أن العالم يبتعد أكثر فأكثر عن تحقيق هدف القضاء على الجوع وانعدام الأمن الغذائي وسوء التغذية بجميع أشكاله بحلول عام 2030، بأن عدد الأشخاص الذين يعانون الجوع في العالم قد ارتفع إلى حوالي 828 مليون شخص في عام 2021، أي بزيادة قدرها نحو 46 مليون شخص منذ عام 2020 و150 مليون شخص منذ تفشي جائحة كوفيد-19 (1).
